THE WATERS, of the aquatic preserves are a delight to explore by kayak or one can take a cruise or water taxi to the outer islands of Cayo Costa, North Captiva, San Carlos Bay, Tarpon Bay, Sanibel Island or Cabbage Key. Most importantly, one can just experience the island at leisure and see how friendly, beautiful and laid-back our paradise can be.

SPORT FISHING, The sport of tarpon fishing originated in Pine Island Sound in the late 1880s. Boca Grande Pass (just 20 minutes across Pine Island Sound from Bokeelia) is considered the "Tarpon Capital of the World." Other popular game fish are snook, redfish, seatrout, grouper, snapper, flounder, cobia, mackerel, barracuda, blacktip shark, sheepshead, seabass and many others.

BIRDS, BIRDS AND MORE BIRDS !

Other “residents” of our secluded and unspoiled location include many varieties of exotic wildlife. More than 20 pairs of bald eagles call Pine Island home along with osprey, heron, roseate spoonbills and egrets, to name a few. Keep a keen eye out and don't miss them, they can be seen over head virtually anywhere on the island.

DOLPHINS & MANATEES, Area waterways hold endangered manatees (the gentle giants also known as sea-cows), sea otters, sea turtles and the rolling dolphins, often seen "surfing" our many canals in search of their daily supply of sashimi (without rice) or sushi (we are told, "that comes with the rice!")
